Frequently Asked Questions

1. What’s the easiest way to donate phones?
Click the red ‘donate phones’ button on our homepage, turn off and deactivate your old phone, print a free shipping label, and send your phones in!
2. Can I donate from outside the United States?
Absolutely. Unfortunately, we cannot offer free shipping for international donations, just yet. We are exploring partnerships and we will keep you updated. For the time being, please send phones to:
Hope Phones Recycling CenterĀ 794 Industrial CourtĀ Bloomfield Hills, MI 48302
When you pack up your phone(s), please print US shipping label and place it inside the package, so we can track your donations.
3. Does my phone’s condition matter?
Not at all! Please send us any and all old phones, whether they work or not.
4. So, what happens to my phone once it gets to the recycling center?
Phones are processed by our recycling partner, The Wireless Source. They’re either cleared, refurbished, and reused, or fully recycled. Hope Phones receives hardware credit for every phone you send in - allowing us to purchase usable, appropriate cell phones for healthcare workers worldwide. 100% of the value of your donated phones is used to acquire the right phones for medical clinics. Because we use simple phones, this process multiplies the impact of your donated phone - if you send in your used iPhone, for example, we will be able to purchase 5-7 phones for healthcare workers.
5. How can I start a collection campaign (at my school, in my office, around town)?
Go to the Get Collection Materials! page, fill out the quick form, and we’ll send you everything you need! Our collection materials include a poster, collection box, shipping box for all the phones you’ll collect, and prepaid shipping labels.
6. What’s the best way to delete information on my phone?
If you would like to remove information from your phone manually, please follow the instructions here. If that doesn’t work, don’t worry! Our recycling partner will clear all the information on your phone for you.
